Small school football: WACO gets it done
Warriors shut out Wolves, wrap up district championship

An important Friday in small school football was highlighted by a big rivalry showdown in Wayland.
No. 3 (8-Player) WACO 43, Winfield-Mount Union 0
The Warriors put together a dominant performance at home against their rivals, and wrapped up first place in the district in the process.
WACO led 37-0 and never looked back in one of their most impressive victories of the season.
Simeon Reichenbach ran for 162 yards and three touchdowns for the Warriors. Isaac Oswald through for just 79 yards, but completed two touchdowns, both to Oleh Shtefanchuk.
New London 58, Lone Tree 21
The Tigers pulled off a huge win over the Lions, clinching a playoff berth with yet another district win.
Boden Pickle ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns on the day. Blaise Porter and Dom Lopez ran for two touchdowns each, and Lopez threw two touchdowns as well. Reean Seberg scored once in the air and once on the ground.
Sigourney-Keota 53, Central Decatur 6
It was all Cobras as Sigourney-Keota blasted the Cardinals in the Snake Pit and earned itself a district title.
Cole Clarahan had another huge game, rushing for 178 yards and four touchdowns. Cole Cindred scored once through the air and once on the ground, and Sawyer Stout threw for two touchdowns.
Columbus 57, North Cedar 0
The Wildcats traveled north to deliver a beat down in their final road game of the season.
Columbus scored a ridiculous 36 points in the first quarter and led 50-0 at halftime.
The Wildcats ran for 350 yards and seven touchdowns as a team. Quarterback Jeff Hoback ran for 73 yards and a touchdown, and both Trenton Hoback and Triston Miller scored twice.
Undefeated Columbus will host undefeated Alburnett next week for the district title.
Centerville 30, Mid-Prairie 14
The Golden Hawks were tied 14-14 at halftime of Centerville’s homecoming but didn’t score in the final two quarters.
Collin Miller threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, mostly to Cain Brown, who went off for 123 yards receiving and two scores. Braden Hartley ran for 120 yards.
Belle Plaine 42, Pekin 7
The Panthers had a rough time in a non-district bout with Belle Plaine at home.
Pekin took an early lead, and held a 7-6 advantage after one quarter. Belle Plaine led 28-7 at the half and tacked on two more scores in the third quarter.
Lisbon 48, Highland 8
It was a rough one for the Huskies, who welcomed in a stacked Lisbon team for a district home game.
No. 8 Pella Christian 63, Cardinal 0
The Comets were done in by the overwhelming force that is Pella Christian.
The Eagles scored four times in the opening quarter to lead 28-0. Pella Christian’s lead at half was 49-0.
Pleasantville 49, Van Buren County 8
The Warriors’ offense couldn’t get going in a 41-point home loss.
Jackson Manning completed four passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Duncan caught two passes for 68 yards and a score, and Izaak Loeffler ran for 54 yards.
