Pekin 3, Columbus 1
Pekin took care of business against Columbus on Thursday night.
The Panthers won the first two matches and Columbus kept the match alive with a 25-18 victory in the third, but Pekin took it with a win in the fourth set.
Hillcrest Academy 3, Lone Tree 0
Hillcrest Academy picked up a big win over Lone Tree on Thursday.
The Ravens won three straight sets against the Lions, 25-21 and 25-17 in the final two sets.
Highland 3, Louisa-Muscatine 2
Highland needed all five sets to get by Louisa-Muscatine on Thursday.
The Huskies faced a 2-0 deficit after the first two sets, but went on to win three straight to win the match.
Highland grabs two wins in Wilton Tournament
Highland took part in the Wilton Tournament on Saturday.
The Huskies picked up a pair of wins, downing Mediapolis in three sets, 21-13, 11-21 and 16-14.
Highland’s other victory came against Prince of Peace 2-0, 21-16 and 21-9.
Columbus goes 1-3 in Williamsburg Tournament
Columbus took part in the Williamsburg Tournament over the weekend.
The Wildcats faced some tough competition and walked away with one win.
Columbus’ sole win came against Des Moines Lincoln 2-0, 21-12 and 21-17.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats fell to No. 9 West Burlington 2-0, 21-11 and 21-7 as well as Williamsburg 2-0, 21-15 and 21-8.
Winfield-Mt. Union 3, WACO 0
WMU got the better of WACO on Thursday night in a sweep 3-0. The Wolves took the first set 25-19 and followed with wins of 25-15 and 25-18 to win it.
No. 12 Burlington Notre Dame 3, Van Buren County 0
Notre Dame was just too much for Van Buren County on Thursday evening.
Despite the loss the Warriors only got better as the night went on.
VBC lost the first set 25-9, the second 25-17 and the third 25-22.
No. 12 West Liberty 3, No. 6 Mid-Prairie 1
Mid-Prairie had a tough go in a ranked battle with West Liberty on Thursday. The Golden Hawks won the first set 25-13, but lost three straight, 25-18, 25-19 and 25-19 to fall.
Mid-Prairie wins three at Iowa City West’s Live Like Line Volleyball Tournament
Mid-Prairie head up to Iowa City West on Saturday to take part in the Live Like Line Volleyball.
The Golden Hawks finished the day with a record of 3-2 against some tough competition.
Mid-Prairie downed Cedar Rapids Washington 2-0, 21-13 and 21-17. Then they defeated Grinnell 2-1, 23-25,25-17,15-7, followed by Prairie 2-0, 26-24, 25-16.
The Golden Hawks two losses came against No. 3 Clear Creek Amana 2-1and No. 2 Ankeny 2-0.
Central Lee 3, New London 0
New London battled against Central Lee on Thursday night.
The Tigers kept it close, but the Hawks only got better as the match went on, winning 25-20, 25-16 and 25-10.
