Softball: Mt. Pleasant swept, WMU rolls on
Panthers downed by No. 2 Wilton, Wolves tame Tigers in New London

WILTON — Wednesday’s high school softball schedule had a handful of area games played around Southeast Iowa, including a no-hitter.
Mt. Pleasant suffered that fate as it had a tough draw playing at Class 2A No. 2 Wilton.
The Panthers’ uphill climb was in a doubleheader. Wilton no-hit Mt. Pleasant in a 14-0 Game 1, and gave up two hits to the Panthers in a 12-0 Game 2 win.
Jersey Beachy and Bethany Drury each had a Panther hit.
Drury took a loss on the mound in Game 1. Ella McNamee was tagged with the loss in Game 2.
Wolves tackle Tigers
NEW LONDON — It was all Winfield-Mount Union in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference crossover game in New London. The Wolves won 13-0 in six innings.
WMU ace Madie Anderson continued to dominate. She gave up just two hits and two walks, while striking out 13.
Jobey Malone went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Wolves. Madie Anderson had a single with two RBIs. Anna Anderson was 2-for-4 with a double. Carlee Sloan, Emma Haines and Keely Malone each knocked in a run.
New London’s Ashlyn McSorley and Marah Hartrick each had one hit.
Mid-Prairie scares No. 5 EBF
EDDYVILLE — Mid-Prairie made No. 5 (3A) Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont sweat, but the Golden Hawks couldn’t pull off an upset, falling 6-2 and 3-2 in a nonconference doubleheader.
Madeline Schrader went 3-for-4 to lead the Golden Hawks in Game 1. Myah Lugar and Brittany Kinsinger each knocked in one run.
Mid-Prairie held a 2-0 lead through three innings in Game 2, but EBF put up three runs in the fourth and hung on for a one-run victory.
Landry Pacha went 2-for 3 with a double in Game 2. Dakota Mitchell was 2-for-3 and Brittany Kinsinger knocked in one run.
Keota falls on road
NORTH MAHASKA — The Eagles couldn’t push a run across in a 10-0 loss to North Mahaska in South Iowa Cedar League play.
The Warhawks scored in just two innings. North Mahaska put up three runs in the first and scored seven in the fifth to end the game early via the 10-run rule.
