WAYLAND ? Pekin?s upward trend continued as Leslie Stone pitched a complete-game one-hitter for a 7-1 win over WACO Tuesday night.
The win is now four straight for the Panthers, who began the season 2-5.
?We?re playing better and starting to get it figured out,? said head coach Bryan Marlay. ?We?re getting more consistency throwing the ball around the plate, taking better swings and I?m real pleased with the progress.?
Stone struck out six while giving up the lone unearned run.
Dominique Tolle went 3-4, blasted a home run and a double to lead Pekin with two runs batted in. Caylee Johnson also roped an extra-base hit, Jessi Martin scored two runs with other hits coming from Maranda Baker and Paige Jensen.
Tonight?s make-up game at Lone Tree has been postponed again to June 15 because of special circumstances, so Pekin will next be in action Thursday at home against IMS.
