Softball roundup: Cardinal, Highland are shutout winners

Cardinal 2, Knoxville 0
Cardinal’s two runs in the third inning were enough to get by Knoxville on Monday night.
Brinlee Ostrander and Summer LaRue both had two hits in the win.
Emma Becker finished with one hit.
Nicoa McClure and Kennedi Miller each tallied an RBI.
In the circle, McClure gave up just four hits with eight strikeouts.
Van Buren County 6, Lone Tree 5
Van Buren County led Lone Tree 4-0 after four innings in their Monday night game.
In the fifth, the Lions answered back with five runs to take a 5-4 lead.
The Warriors finished the game with two runs in the top of the seventh.
Annabelle Cormier and Kylee Roan each had two hits in the game with Roan tallying two RBIs.
Callie Kracht and Ivy Davison both had RBIs as well. Sophia Jirak and Ally Campbell each had one hit.
Campbell took the win in the circle, giving up five runs (one earned) on six hits and 12 strikeouts.
Highland 12, New London 0
Highland kicked off its Monday night matchup against New London with nine runs between the first two innings.
The Huskies went on to score three more in the fourth as the Tigers couldn’t make the comeback.
West Liberty 4, Mid-Prairie 1
West Liberty scored two in the fourth and two more in the sixth to get by Mid-Prairie on Monday night.
The Golden Hawks scored on in the top of the seventh, but couldn’t get three more to tie it.
West Liberty 15, Mid-Prairie 1
Mid-Prairie trailed West Liberty 4-0 for two innings on Monday night as the Comets plated four between the first and second frame.
The Golden Hawks cut it to three with a single run in the fifth, but the Comets went on to bring four home in the sixth and seven more in the seventh.
Mediapolis 15, Winfield-Mt. Union 3
WMU led Mediapolis 2-0 after two innings of play, but the Bulldogs went on to scored all 15 runs in the third.
Anna Anderson led the Wolves with two hits in the game.
Quin Smith finished with a hit and an RBI. Ella Kann ended with an RBI. Keely Malone and Katie Miller had hits as well.
In the circle Smith and Kann gave up a combined 15 runs (three earned) on 10 hits and one strikeout.
Sigourney 15, Keota 1
After one inning on Monday night, Keota faced a 7-1 deficit against Sigourney.
The Savages went on to scored four in both the fourth and fifth inning to seal it.
Sigourney 18, Keota 0
Sigourney won the second game of two against Keota, scoring 11 runs in the first and seven in the second to end the game in two and a half innings.
Holy Trinity Catholic 9, Hillcrest Academy 0
Hillcrest Academy was held scoreless in its Monday night Southeast Iowa Super Conference matchup with HTC.
Erin Bontrager and Lydia Beachy both had hits for the Ravens.
Malia Yoder gave up nine runs (four earned) on eight hits with 11 strikeouts in the circle.
