Softball roundup: Columbus, Highland on the winning track

Columbus 12, Lone Tree 1
Columbus scored two in the first, seven in the third and three in the fourth to down Lone Tree in four innings on Tuesday.
Kennedy Woepking finished with three hits in the game and two RBIs to lead the Wildcats.
Ellie Sanders and Lily Coil both had a pair of hits in the game. Coil also had an RBI.
Audrey Hoback, Jocelyn Fulton, Victoria Howell and Aracely Garza each had a hit. Howell had one RBI as well.
Woepking gave up just one run (one earned) on two hits and six strikeouts.
Highland 14, Pekin 4
Highland led Pekin by just one after the first inning, 2-1.
The Huskies went on to score two in the third and 10 between the fifth and sixth to win it.
For Highland, Abigail Pierson had three hits with three RBIs.
Sarah Burton ended with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
Payton Brun and MyLei Smith each had two hits as well.
Abbie Stransky and Madison Beeson both had one hit.
Grace Prybil threw for five innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits, along with three strikeouts.
No. 3 (Class 3A) Davis County 5, Cardinal 4
Cardinal nearly took down Class 3A No. 3 Davis County on Tuesday.
The Comets and Mustangs were tied 3-3 heading into the sixth, but Davis County’s two in the top of the seventh was enough to win it.
Emma Becker led the Comets with two hits in the game.
Cynthia Albert finished with one RBI for Cardinal.
Kinsey Hissem, Nicoa McClure, Ava Ferrell, Summer LaRue and Ashlynn Patrick all had hits as well.
McClure in the circle gave up five runs (three earned) on nine hits along with three strikeouts.
Wapello 13, Winfield-Mt. Union 0
Wapello scored eight runs in the opening inning and five more in the fourth to defeat WMU on Tuesday.
Louisa-Muscatine 15, Hillcrest Academy 1
Hillcrest Academy couldn’t keep up with Louisa-Muscatine on Tuesday.
