Softball roundup: Columbus, Hillcrest Academy see victory

Columbus 12, Winfield-Mt. Union 0
Columbus scored four runs in the first inning and another eight in the third to move past Winfield-Mt. Union on Tuesday night.
For the Wildcats, Kennedy Woepking went 2for-2 with a pair of RBIs.
Seven other Columbus hitters had a hit as well. Jocelyn Fulton and Aracely Garza each had two RBIs as well.
Columbus moves to 3-3, while Winfield-Mt. Union drops to 1-3.
Kennedy Woepking pitched three innings throwing a no hitter with five strikeouts.
Hillcrest Academy 13, Pekin 6
Hillcrest Academy led by just one 4-3 after the first inning of action on Tuesday.
The Ravens went on to score seven between the fourth and fifth innings to take a hold of the game.
For the Ravens, Delaney Shaw led with three hits and two RBIs in the game. Lydia Beachy went 2-for-3 with fourth RBIs.
Kylee Statler, Morgyn Nafziger and Erin Bontrager all had an RBI as well.
Hillcrest Academy is now 2-1, while Pekin drops to 0-4.
Mid-Prairie 15, Tipton 2
Mid-Prairie dominated Tipton on Monday night.
Between the first two frames, the Golden Hawks scored 15 run for a 15-0 lead. Tipton got two in the third, but that’s all the runs that were scored in the game.
Brenna Jehle went 3-for-3 for the Golden Hawks with four RBIs. Molly Yoder went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Dakota Mitchell and Sydney Knebel each had a pair of RBIs as well.
Kadence Grout took the win giving up three hits, two runs (two earned) with one strikeout.
In the first game of the doubleheader the Golden Hawks were winners 8-2.
Mid-Prairie improves to 4-1.
Wapello 4, Highland 1
Wapello scored one in the third and three in the fifth to get past Highland on Tuesday. The Huskies were able to get one back in the sixth, but that’s all they could muster.
Highland drops to 3-4 on the season.
Mediapolis 14, New London 2
New London trailed 10-2 heading into the third inning on Tuesday against Mediapolis.
Mediapolis went on to score four in the third to seal it.
For New London, Megan Lee had the lone hit and one RBI. Camryn Lair finished with an RBI as well.
Central Lee 20, Van Buren County 10
Van Buren County led 4-0 after the second inning against Central Lee, but the Hawks went on to score eight runs in he fourth and 11 in the sixth to propel them to victory.
The Warriors drop to 2-2 on the year.
