Softball roundup: Fairfield wins big

Fairfield 11, New London 0
Fairfield scored five runs in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth to pick up a win.
Lilly Bergren had three hits for the Trojans. Savannah Hollander, Morgan Ament and Leah Helmick all had two.
Laney Norris pitched to a victory, giving up two hits, two walks with two strikeouts.
Cardinal 2, Sigourney 0
Cardinal picked up a huge victory over Sigourney on Thursday. The Comets two first inning runs were enough to down the Savages on the road.
Kinsey Hissem led the Comets with a pair of hits and one RBI.
Nicoa McClure tallied a hit and RBI as well.
McClure took the victory in the circle as well, giving up just three hits, one walk with four strikeouts.
Columbus 13, Hillcrest Academy 0
Columbus downed Hillcrest Academy after five innings on Thursday night.
The Wildcats scored nine runs in the first three innings before closing it out with two in both the fourth and fifth.
Lily Coil led the way with three hits and one RBI in the game. Aracely Garza ended with three RBIs and Audrey Hoback finished with two.
Coil took the win in the circle with seven strikeouts.
For Hillcrest Academy, Claire Withrow, Morgyn Nafziger, Delaney Shaw and Adrianne Blauvel all had one hit.
Mid-Prairie 3, Wilton 2
Mid-Prairie and Wilton were tied at 1-1 after two innings on Thursday, but the Golden Hawks were able to bring the game winning run home in the fourth.
Dakota Mitchell, Sophie Miller and Molly Yoder all had two hits in the win. Miller had one RBI too.
Hannah Sellers and Olivia Swartzendruber each had one hit with Swartzendruber tallying two RBIs as well.
Van Buren County 6, Holy Trinity Catholic 5
Van Buren County was able to stave off HTC on Thursday night.
The Warriors led 6-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh and HTC went on to score three in the final inning, nearly completing the comeback.
For Van Buren County, Ivy Davison had three hits and four RBIs in the win.
Kylee Roan ended with a pair of hits and one RBI.
Ally Campbell took the victory pitching, giving up five runs (one earned) on five hits and four strikeouts.
Winfield-Mt. Union 20, Pekin 11
Pekin led Winfield-Mt. Union 9-5 after the first inning on Tuesday.
After four, the Panthers led 11-8. WMU finished strong with 12 runs in the final three innings.
For WMU, Anna Anderson had four hits and three RBIs. Quin Smith finished with three hits and three RBIs. Kellee Milks had three RBIs with one hit as well. Katie Miller and Emily Weiskircher each had two RBIs as well.
Smith took the victory in the circle with 11 runs given up on nine hits, eight walks and three strikeouts.
For Pekin, Myah Bainbridge had three hits and an RBI. Quinnlyn Baker, Alex Parsons and Kendyl Noel had two hits. Noel ended with three RBIs as well.
Highland 11, Lone Tree 0
Highland scored five runs in the first two innings and three more in both the fourth and fifth inning to down Lone Tree in five innings.
Payton Brun led the Huskies with four hits and four RBIs in the game.
Abbi Stransky and Lilly Barre each had two hits. Stransky finished with a pair of RBIs and Barre had one.
Jessica Kraus won in the circle allowing just one hit, three walks with nine strikeouts.
Highland 6, Louisa-Muscatine 5
Highland downed a tough Louisa-Muscatine squad on Friday night.
Durant 5, Highland 1
Highland suffered a tough defeat to Durant on Saturday in Muscatine.
Muscatine 12, Highland 2
The Huskies lost to a very good Muscatine team on Saturday in Muscatine.
Chariton 13, Van Buren County 0
Chariton was just too much for Van Buren County on Friday.
The Chargers led 7-0 after four inning and went on to add six between the sixth and seventh.
Annabelle Cormier, Callie Kracht and Addison Brauns had hits for the Warriors.
Wapello 6, Columbus 5
Columbus came up just one run short to Wapello on Friday.
The two squads were tied at five heading into the seventh inning, but the Arrows scored the game winning run in the bottom of the inning to win it.
Centerville 4, Cardinal 1
Cardinal couldn’t complete the comeback against the Big Reds on Friday.
The Comets were down 4-0 heading into the sixth inning. They were able to get one back in the top of the seventh, but that’s all they could muster.
Nicoa McClure had two hits in the loss for Cardinal. Emma Becker tallied the lone RBI.
HLV 14, Keota 2
HLV scored six runs in the first three innings and Keota could never make the comeback on Friday night.
Wapello 16, Pekin 4
Pekin trailed Wapello just one, 3-2 after the first inning, but the Arrows scored nine runs in the next three innings to pull away with the win.
Payten Coleman, Alex Parsons and Kendyl Noel all had two hits a piece in the loss.
West Burlington 12, New London 0
West Burlington scored two in the first inning and 10 in the third to down the Tigers on Thursday night.
Louisa-Muscatine 13, Winfield-Mt. Union 1
Winfield-Mt. Union trailed Louisa-Muscatine 5-0 after one inning on Thursday.
The Wolves put one on the board in the top of the third, but L-M scored seven in the bottom of the third and one more in the bottom of the fourth to win it.
Keely Malone led WMU with two hits in the game. Anna Anderson finished with one.
Quin Smith and Ella Kann pitched for the Wolves, allowing a combined 13 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits and four walks.
Lone Tree 15, Hillcrest Academy 2
Hillcrest Academy trailed Lone Tree just 4-2 after the first inning on Friday, but the Lions went on to score one in the second and five in both the third and fourth inning to end the game.
Claire Withrow and Morgyn Nafziger each had a hit in the loss for the Ravens.
Malia Yoder and Kylee Statler gave up 15 runs (six earned) on nine hits, six walks and five strikeouts.
Lone Tree 12, Hillcrest Academy 2
Lone Tree and Hillcrest Academy were knotted at 2-2 after one inning of action on Friday.
The Lions went on to score four in the second, one in the fourth and five in the fifth to seal it.
Morgyn Nafziger and Erin Bontrager each had two hits in the loss. Kylee Statler and Clarie Withrow both had a hit and an RBI.
Malia Yoder gave up 12 runs (five earned) on nine hits, five walks with three strikeouts on the mound.
