Softball roundup: Mid-Prairie double dips on Durant
Cardinal and Highland see victory to begin final week of the season

Cardinal 9, Clarke 8
Cardinal jumped out to a 3-0 against Clarke on Monday night, but the Indians bounced back with all eight of their runs in the bottom of the third.
The Comets didn’t waiver.
Cardinal went on to score two in the fourth, one each in the fifth and six, followed by two more in the seventh to win it.
Emma Becker and Summer LaRue both finished with three hits in the game.
LaRue and Cynthia Albert both tallied RBIs with Albert notching two hits.
Ava Ferrell ended with two hits and one hit.
Brinlee Ostrander and Kinsey Hissem had one hit as well with Hissem picking up an RBI.
In the circle, Nicoa McClure gave up eight runs (three earned) on 10 hits with two strikeouts.
Highland 8, Columbus 3
Highland jumped out to a 6-1 lead over Columbus through three innings on Monday.
The Huskies scored three in the first, two in the second and one in the third.
Columbus cut it to three with a pair of runs in the top half of the fourth, but Highland ended with single runs in the fourth and sixth.
For Highland, MyLei Smith finished with two hits and an RBI.
Sarah Burton, Abbi Stransky and Adeline Krotz each tallied one hit.
Stransky and Madison Beeson each had two RBIs each.
Jessica Kraus and Adisyn Prottsman gave up a combined three runs (zero earned) on two hit with eight strikeouts.
For Columbus, Ellie Sanders, Lily Coil, Audrey Hoback and Daniela Diaz all had hits.
Sanders had each of the Wildcats two RBIs.
Kennedy Woepking and Coil gave up a combined eight runs (one earned) on five hits and four strikeouts.
Mid-Prairie 8, Durant 1
Mid-Prairie scored one run in the second inning and brought seven more home in the third to put Durant away.
Brenna Jehle led the way for the Golden Hawks going 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Mid-Prairie 2, Durant 1
A pair of runs in the sixth inning was enough to get by Durant on Monday.
Dakota Mitchell led the Golden Hawks in the contest going 3-for-4. Sydney Knebel and Olivia Swartzentruber each had one RBI.
Danville 8, New London 6
Danville jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one inning of action on Tuesday night in New London and would never lose it.
The Tigers came within one after one run in the third, 3-2.
But the Bears went on to bring four across home plate in the top of the fifth.
New London was able to bring three across in the bottom half of the sixth, but couldn’t find the runs in the seventh.
Central Lee 11, New London 1
Central Lee scored two runs each between the second and fourth inning to leap out to a 4-0 lead on Monday night.
The Tigers scored one in the fifth to get back within three, but the Hawks delivered five more runs to take a commanding lead. With two more in the sixth, Central Lee was able to seal it.
Morgan Jones, Sophie Malott and Camryn Lair all had hits for the Tigers with Lair picking up the lone RBI.
Malott gave up 11 runs (10 earned) on nine hits.
Sigourney 16, Pekin 0
Pekin trailed Sigourney just 2-0 after one inning on Tuesday, but the Savages went on to score 14 in the second inning to seal it.
English Valleys 17, Keota 0
English Valleys scored six runs in the first inning, nine more in the second and two in the third to down Keota on Monday.
