Softball team at .500 for season so far
After playing in three games over two days Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10, the Washington Demons softball team has evened out their record for the year so far.
The girls were shut out by Pekin Friday by a 0-2 score.
Pekin scored both of their runs in the first inning. Alexa Mitchell was the only player to have a hit in the game.

After playing in three games over two days Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10, the Washington Demons softball team has evened out their record for the year so far.
The girls were shut out by Pekin Friday by a 0-2 score.
Pekin scored both of their runs in the first inning. Alexa Mitchell was the only player to have a hit in the game.
Pitcher Molly Sparks gave up the two runs on eight hits while walking on and striking out four.
The team took part in a tournament at Fairfield Saturday. The girls lost to New London in the first game 8-9 after eight innings of play.
Washington scored two runs in the first inning to take a brief lead before New London scored four in the bottom of the second to take over the lead 4-2.
They added one more run in the fourth before Washington tied the game in the sixth after scoring three runs, but New London pulled ahead in their half of the frame by scoring three runs to regain the lead 8-5.
The Demons would tie the game by scoring three runs in the seventh to force the game into extra innings.
New London would keep Washington from scoring in the eighth and put one across the plate to get the win.
Morgan Brinning scored three runs in the game, with Alexa Mitchell crossing the plate twice while Haylee Wilson, Kinsey Duwa and Halle Leyden had one run each.
Alexa Mitchell took the loss, giving up the nine runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out three.
The girls were able to rebound in the second game as they won 14-2 over Cardinal in four innings.
Washington scored four runs in the second and one more in the third before Cardinal was able to score their two runs in the bottom of the third. The Demons would secure their victory after scoring nine runs in the fourth inning.
Brinning, Kaitlyn Mitchell, Megan Mitchell, Wilson, Duwa and Leyden scored two runs each. Crossing the plate once in the game were Alexa Mitchell and Kellie Dallmeyer.
Sparks got the win, going two innings on the mound, only giving up one hit while walking one.
Wilson pitched two innings, with two runs scoring on three hits and walking one.
The girls have a 10-10 record and will play in a doubleheader at West Burlington Wednesday, June 14, starting at 5:30 p.m.
