Softball teams across southeast Iowa play through hot conditions
The hot weather didn?t stop southeast Iowa softball teams from competing last week with most teams not having outcomes they wished.
The Highland softball team won their match-up over West Burlington 7-6 in nine innings Thursday, June 8.
The girls took part in a tournament at Calamus-Wheatland Saturday, June 10. In the first game, they lost 1-7 to Northeast, Goose Lake.

The hot weather didn?t stop southeast Iowa softball teams from competing last week with most teams not having outcomes they wished.
The Highland softball team won their match-up over West Burlington 7-6 in nine innings Thursday, June 8.
The girls took part in a tournament at Calamus-Wheatland Saturday, June 10. In the first game, they lost 1-7 to Northeast, Goose Lake.
The girls won over Camanche in the second game 7-4 and won the third game 14-0 over Clinton.
The team was host to Pekin Monday, June 12, which resulted in a 12-1 win.
The girls traveled to New London Thursday, June 15. That game ended 4-3. The girls won over Iowa City High 4-3 Saturday, June 17, followed by a 5-0 win over Waterloo West in a tournament at East Des Moines.
The Huskies have a 12-2 record so far this season. They next play at Louisa-Muscatine Monday, June 19, starting at 7 p.m.
Mid-Prairie lost at Cascade Thursday, June 8, by a 1-8 final score.
The girls won over Lone Tree Friday, June 9, by a 5-3 score. They won over Central Lee in a tournament at Cedar Rapids Prairie Saturday, June 10, by a 12-0 score.
The girls lost the second in that tournament by a 2-3 score to AGWSR.
The Golden Hawks played a doubleheader against Regina Monday, June 12. They lost the first game in nine innings 3-4 and lost the second game 8-15.
The girls were host to Fairfield Wednesday, June 14, for another doubleheader.
Mid-Prairie lost the first game 0-10 in five innings and lost the second game 0-12 in three innings.
The girls traveled to Camanche Thursday, June 15, where they were shut out 0-10.
The teams? record is 6-13. Their next game is against Bellevue Monday, June 19, starting at 7:30 p.m.
The Iowa Mennonite girls lost to New London 4-14 Monday, June 12, and lost at Pekin Tuesday, June 13, by a 2-8 score.
The girls were host to Louisa-Muscatine Thursday, June 15. They lost that game 1-14.
The girls won at Lone Tree Friday, June 16, by a 5-3 score. IMS? record is 2-6 and will next play at Cardinal Monday, June 19, starting at 7 p.m.
The Keota girls were shut out by Lynville-Sully 0-22 Friday, June 9.
They lost at HLV, Victor Monday, June 12, by a 0-12 score. The game at Colfax Wednesday, June 14, ended in a 0-13 loss.
Their next game was Friday, June 16, at BGM, which resulted in a 1-11 loss.
The girls take their 0-11 on the road to Iowa Valley Monday, June 19. The game starts at 5 p.m.
The Columbus/WACO softball team lost to Central Lee Thursday, June 8, 5-9.
They lost to Wapello Monday, June 12, by a 2-3 final score and lost to Winfield-Mt. Union 4-11 Tuesday, June 13. They were host to Van Buren Thursday, June 15.
That game ended with a 4-9 final score. The girls played at Wilton Friday, June 16, in which Wilton won 7-3.
Columbus? record is 0-17. They next play Tuesday, June 20, against Lone Tree, starting at 7 p.m.
