The St. Louis Interocllegiate Athletic Conference released its All-Decade men's basketball team last week and a familiar name made the list. Steven Soukup, who played just one season for Iowa Wesleyan, was named to the list of 17.
The SLIAC All-Decade team is a collection of players that excelled between the years of 2010-19.
Soukup transferred from the University of Iowa in 2016, along with twin brother Michael, and helped lead the Tgiers to an 18-9 regular season record, a 13-5 SLIAC record and a berth in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national tournament.
Soukup, a 2013 graduate of Danville High School, was an enormous pick up for the Tigers in the 2016-17 season. He averaged 26-4 points per game, which was second in the conference for the season. Soukup shot an incredible 61.9 percent from the floor, also second in the conference.
When all was said and done, Soukup broke the SLIAC record for points in a season, putting up 714.
Soukup was the only IW men's basketball player to make the squad. Webster University and MacMurray College led the way with four honorees apiece.
The conference also named two coaches to the list. Coach Chris Bunch of Webster University and Coach Kevin Gray of Spalding University were both honored.
