The Southeast Conference should be stronger in girls basketball next year judging from the All-Conference teams release.
One senior made the All-SEC First Team and one made the second team. There were six juniors and four sophomores on the two teams. Eight seniors were mentioned honorably with two juniors, a sophomore and a single freshman.
Fairfield was the conference champion as far as academics. There were 11 Trojans named All-Academic SEC.
The Player of the Year is a junior, Keokuk's Abby Wolter. Wolter had a 20.1 per game scoring average, second behind Malarie Ross of Fort Madison, who was at 20.3. Others who were selected to the first team and their scoring average were Andrea Lopreato of Mt. Pleasant, third in the league at 16.7, Fairfield's Danielle Breen was fifth at 11.5 and Hannah Simpson sixth at 11.1. Fort Madison's Brandy Walker was ninth at 9.1.
Lopreato led the league in rebounds at 10.9 per game, blocks with 1.2 and was fourth in steals. Simpson was fourth with 7.4 rebounds a game. Breen was fifth in assists.
Washington's Anna Nacos, Mt. Pleasant's Tristan Shull and Fairfield's Delaney Breen were area selections to the second team.
Each school was allowed two choices for honorable mention. The complete teams including those who qualified with a 3.25 grade-point average to land on the SEC All-Academic are listed below.
