COLUMBUS JUNCTION — In a news release, the Columbus Junction Speedway announced the addition of the Hobby Stock Class this season.
The 2021 season will begin Friday and continue on Fridays through the end of August.
The 4/10ths of a mile track is located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds. Grandstands open at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps begin at 7:15 p.m. with racing to follow.
Larry Richardson, who is in his seventh year as the speedway’s promoter, has made the decision to be fully sanctioned under the International Motor Contest Association banner for 2021.
“This year our drivers will have the continuity of a uniform set of rules set by IMCA plus our drivers will be not only racing for local track points but they also will earn regional and national points,” Richardson said. “We have some of the best dirt track drivers in the Midwest, and they deserve the recognition that they can earn under the IMCA banner.”
The hobby stocks will be added to modifieds, stock cars, sportmods and sport compacts. All five classes will compete weekly under the IMCA banner.
