Point guard transfers to Iowa
IOWA CITY (AP) ? Iowa has signed junior college point guard Trey Dickerson to a letter of intent.
Dickerson, a 6-foot-1 native of Queens, N.Y., will three years of eligibility for the Hawkeyes.
Dickerson averaged 19.8 points, 5.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds last season for Williston State College in North Dakota. He was rated among the nation?s top junior college point guards and should play immediately for coach Fran McCaffery.
Iowa will also bring back starting point guard Mike Gesell, though Gesell often plays shooting guard as well.
McCaffery says Dickerson is a quick and creative point guard who can score and excel in transition.
Dickerson and freshmen Brady Ellingson and Dominque Uhl will be newcomers for Iowa next season.
Forward transferring to Drake University
DES MOINES (AP) ? Northwestern forward Kale Abrahamson is transferring to Drake after two seasons with the Wildcats.
The 6-foot-7 Abrahamson is a native of West Des Moines. He started 11 games at Northwestern last season and averaged 3.8 points, including a 19-point performance against UCLA.
