JV basketball falls in final seconds

The Fairfield JV boys? basketball team lost to Fort Madison 57-55 Thursday.

Fairfield (6-12) led throughout the game, but the Bloodhounds managed to comeback and make a winning shot at the buzzer.

Alex Crile and Nick Higgins both scored 13 points. Alex Simpson scored 10 points and Cameron Baumann put in nine points.

Freshmen girls with landslide win

The Fairfield freshmen girls? basketball team defeated Fort Madison 48-8 Thursday at Fairfield High School.

Kaylee Watson led the team with 16 points. Brynna Bowman scored 11 points, Brooke McLain put in seven points, and Haley Beard chipped in four.

Seventh-grade girls victorious

The Fairfield Middle School seventh-grade girls? basketball A team won at home against Burlington Aldo Leopold 33-6 Thursday.

Alison Godwin scored 10 points to lead the Trojans. Malory Jones had eight points and Jillian Dunlap scored six.

?We forced a lot of turnovers and had great help defense,? Fairfield coach Derek Philips said. ?We also took better shots again. This group listens and has a desire to always better themselves.?

The B team won 20-10. Jaiden Hainline scored seven points and Madison Kraemer put in six.
