Spring sports heating up
Mt. Pleasant, Fairfield, Washington spring season nearly in full swing

As the end of March draws ever closer and the weather starts to get a little warmer, it means that area schools spring athletics are about to be in full bloom.
While track and field has already dipped its foot into competition, soccer, tennis, and golf will be right there too in a week and a half.
Here we will take a look at the sporting events that mark the beginning spring season.
On Friday, March 25 the Washington boys will host the first outdoor track meet of the year beginning at 3:30 p.m. Along with the Demons, a total of 18 teams will be in attendance, including Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield.
Following the weekend, on Monday, March 28, both Mt. Pleasant and Washington track and field will travel to West Burlington High School. The meet will begin at 4:30.
On Tuesday, March 29, the Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant and Washington girls track and field teams will make a trip to West Burlington to partake in their first outdoor meet of the year. The meet is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
The Mt. Pleasant and Washington girls soccer teams have their first competitions of the year on Tuesday too. The Panthers will play Mediapolis at East Lake Park in Mt. Pleasant, while the Demons will be on the road at Centerville. Both will start at 4:30 p.m.
On Thursday March 31, Tennis will begin. The Mt. Pleasant boys will travel to Davis County in a matchup with the Mustangs. On the contrary, the Panther girls will play host to Davis County at East Lake Park. The boys match will begin at 4:15 and the girls 4:30
Fairfield boys and girls tennis teams will be up against Fort Madison. The girls will host the Bloodhounds, while the boys will hit the road. Both are set to start at 4:30.
On the track and field side of things, the Mt. Pleasant boys and girls teams will be hosting their first meet of the year at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex. Both Washington and Fairfield will be in attendance. The meet starts at 4:30.
Washington boys and girls soccer will be in competition on Thursday too. The boys will host Highland at 4:30 and the girls will travel to Columbus at 5:00.
The Mt. Pleasant girls soccer team will head to Central Lee for its second game of the year at 5:00.
The Washington boys and girls golf teams will kick off the golf season with a triangular against Mid-Prairie and Columbus at the Kalona Golf and County Club beginning at 4:00.
This is just the first week of a long and eventful spring sport season for Mt. Pleasant, Washington and Fairfield.
