Highland?s Katie Springer signed a letter of intent to play college softball at Muscatine Community College next season as her parents and Muscatine Community College head coach Scott Beatty look on. Springer said the people at the college were the main reason for the deicision.
?I know some girls who already went there,? Springer said. ?I enjoyed what the coaches said to me. It was an interesting school and I liked it a lot.?
Springer was a 2A All-state pitcher last season for the Huskies, as she helped pitch Highland to a fourth-place finish in the state tournament. Springer won 28 games for the Huskies, and struck out 199 batters, good for sixth in Class 2A.
She and the Huskies are ready to make some more noise next season, as they return a majority of starters this summer.
?We are looking to go even farther this year,? Springer said. ?We want to prove ourselves more and more. We want to work on our skills more this year.?
