Sprouse carries Keota to victory

Keota High School's Addison Sprouse nearly matched the Eagles' opponent's total in a girls basketball game Tuesday.
Highland 60, Louisa-Muscatine 49
Sarah Schneider led three Huskies in double figures Tuesday in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division win at Letts.
L-M led 14-10 after the first quarter, but the Huskies held a 27-8 advantage in the second quarter to lead 37-22 at the half.
Schneider had a game-high 22 points. Abbie Miller scored 16 and Aly Stokes added 12 for Highland. For Louisa-Muscatine, Hailey Sanders had 10 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Kylee Sanders had 10 points and seven steals.
Louisa-Muscatine (6-7, 5-5 North) plays Iowa Mennonite School at Kalona Friday.
It was the ninth straight win for Highland (11-2 overall, 9-1 North). The Huskies play at Cardinal tonight and host Mediapolis Friday. Mepo is 12-1 and 10-0 in the North. Highland's only North loss was at Mepo in the third game of the season.
MEDIAPOLIS 68, COLUMBUS 20
Maya Johnson scored 25 points to lead the homestanding Bullettes to a North Division win Tuesday, their sixth straight.
Ingrid Montero led Columbus with six points.
Columbus (0-12) plays Pekin at Packwood Friday.
Keota 56, HLV 28
The Eagles led 10-6 after the first quarter, 23-13 at halftime and 35-24 starting the fourth quarter where they outscored the visitors 21-6 for the South Iowa Cedar League win.
Sprouse couldn't miss from the field, sinking 7 of 8 3-pointers. She also went 5 of 6 from the foul line to reach her total of 26 points.
Brianna Duwa snagged eight rebounds. Jill Schulte had a team-high six steals. Paige Thompson led the Eagles with nine rebounds and four assists. She also netted 11 points.
Keota had 12 assists as a team and 15 made field goals.
Keota has a 5-10 record overall, 4-5 in the SICL and plays at Melcher-Dallas Monday.
