State bowling wraps up
SK duo, Zear bowl well, but miss bracket play in 1A tourney

WATERLOO — All three area boys bowlers who made the 2026 state meet in Waterloo finished in the Top-20, but the trio all missed out on a Top-8 spot and a ticket into the final bracket.
Just eight bowlers make the final rounds of the Iowa High School State Bowling Tournament, and Sigourney’s Wells Clark came in ninth. Clark bowled a 697, which was two pins off eighth place.
Clark bowled his best game early on, going 258, 235 and 204 to wind up in eighth.
Washington’s Kaeden Zear was right in the thick of things as well. Zear bowled a 200, and 266 and a 215 to finish out at 681, which put him in 14th.
And finally, Sigourney’s Owen Clark sneaked into the Top 20 by saving his best round for last. He bowled a 210, a 201 and a 232 to finish 20th, at 646.
Maquoketa’s London Costello won the state tournament in Class 1A after taking second in the preliminaries. Second-seeded Costello defeated fifth-seeded Clay Fouch of Shenandoah 249-246 in the finals.
