FT. DODGE - The state softball tournament in Ft. Dodge is down to its championship games. Each class is setting up to crown their 2019 champions over the next two days.
All championship games will include the respective bracket's No. 1 seed. Class 1A's favorite, Collins-Maxwell, will take on No. 3 Clarksville. No. 1 North Linn and No. 6 Alta-Aurelia will face off in the Class 2A final.
No. 1 Davenport Assumption will face off with Southeast Iowa's last hope, second-seeded Louisa-Muscatine. The Falcons have scored 10 runs in each of their first two games en route to the championship game.
Class 4A has been wild as usual, but the top seeds have still moved to the title game. No. 1 Carlisle will take on No. 2 North Scott. North Scott came out of Mt. Pleasant's region.
There have been five one-run games in Class 4A, including four in the winner's bracket. Both semifinals games were decided by one run.
In Class 5A, No. 1 Waukee moved to the championship. West Des Moines Valley made their run from the No. 7 seed and will look to knock off the top-ranked squad in the title match.
The championship games begin tonight (Thursday) with the Class 1A and Class 2A championships. Classes 3A, 4A and 5A will be decided on Friday, July 26.
