I am writing to encourage community members to cast a vote on April 2 for the proposed $10 million of general obligation bonds to fund a Fairfield High School facilities renovation project. Information about the project can be found on the front page of the school district?s web page which has the following web address: www.fairfieldsfuture.org.
The proposed project has been well thought out by many stakeholders and involves many aspects of the school. Academic areas, including the science, art, band, chorus, and industrial arts classrooms are being upgraded. Locker rooms, wrestling room, weight room, and the northern interior entrances of the gym are extracurricular areas being improved. From a safety point of view, outside entrances are being modified to ensure visitors have to enter through the main office. Additionally, the project makes every floor of the building handicap accessible, improves air quality with new heating and cooling systems, and slightly modifies the kitchen and commons area to provide the ability to serve lunch in a more efficient manner. Personally, I feel that investing in this project will improve our students? educational experience and have a positive impact on our community.
Again, I encourage you to study the plan and to cast a vote on April 2. Please feel free to contact any of the FHS administrators if you have questions about the plan or if you would like a tour of the facility.
