The previous record, set in 2006, was held by Lindsey Boldt, who scored 1,068 points while playing for the Panthers from 2003-2006.
Boldt, like Shull, played volleyball and basketball and competed in track at Mt. Pleasant. She was also the first girl in the five-player game to pass 1,000 career points ? Shull was the second. Boldt went on to compete in track at the University of Missouri.
Shull, who has signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Division I Bradley University next season, entered the basketball season only 39 points short of Boldt?s record, after breaking the 1,000-point mark last season.
She scored 17 in the team?s first game of the season and 21 in the second game, putting herself just one point away at tip off against Ottumwa last night.
?Taylor has worked hard for many years, and that work has made her into the player that she is,? coach Joanna Settles said. ?I?m proud of her, and I?m excited for her to score more points.?
