Team, individual cross-country rankings released

Lance Sobaski maintained his position at No. 6 in the Class 3A rankings by the Iowa Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches while Washington teammate Micah Rees and Mt. Pleasant’s Abby Blint are both ranked 22nd.

Washington’s boys are ranked 20th as a team. Columbus climbed up to 15th in 1A while Mid-Prairie’s boys are maintaining their position at No. 5.

Danville/New London’s boys and Mid-Prairie’s girls are both the top-ranked team in Class 2A. Pekin’s girls are at No. 3 with Lauren Steigleder ranked 15th and Lauren Dersheid 23.

Mid-Prairie has five girls ranked with Danielle Hostetler No. 1, Sydney Yoder No. 9, Jaden Yoder 17, Phoebe Shetler 18 and Mitzi Evans 23.

There are two new entries in 1A boys. Freddy Vergara is at 21 while teammate Isaac Acosta was no longer ranked, and Zack Wise of Pekin is 30.

Danville/New London started the season with the top two individuals but they have fallen and changed position with Alexander Julian now at No. 5, Ty Carr at No. 7, then newcomer as of two weeks ago, Rylan Martin at No. 9, with Seth Bailey 25th.
