FAIRFIELD — Fairfield senior Gabe Tejada will be heading to Davenport for his collegiate track and field career.
Tejada signed his letter of intent to attend and run track at St. Ambrose University at the end of last month, making his future decision known in front of family, friends and coaches.
Tejada still has one more spring season ahead of him before moving on to college. After school, he says he plans on joining the National Guard.
On the track, Tejada is one of three returning individual qualifiers for the Trojan boys this season. He finished 15th at the state tournament in last year’s 800-meter run.
Tejada will join a St. Ambrose squad that took 32nd place at the 2024 NAIA Outdoor championships, while also taking 40th in the 2024 NAIA Indoors.
Tejada says he’s ready for this spring, when the Trojan track and field team gets back at it this March.
