MT. PLEASANT — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the men’s and women’s 1st-Team, 2nd-Team, and 3rd-Team All-American selections as well as Honorable Mentions picks on Tuesday.
For the Tigers of Iowa Wesleyan, three athletes have been named to the honorable mention lists.
For the Tiger men, freshman Henry Shannon was selected. On the women’s side, junior Isabell West and senior Kyla Moore were both named to the list.
Shannon helped lead the Tiger men to the 2023 Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) tournament title and helped get the Tigers to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time since 2011.
He led the Tigers with 12.9 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game during the regular season.
Shannon was crucial in the Tigers' 2023 CAC tournament title.
He averaged 12.6 points per game and seven rebounds per game during the three game stretch.
He was named 1st-Team All-Tournament team by the CAC and hit a buzzer-beating game winner in the Tigers' opening round game of the CAC tournament against the Haskell Indian Nations University Fighting Indians.
Shannon is the first Tiger to receive NAIA honors since Nate Fuqua was named an All-American in the 2010-2011 season and the first Tiger to earn Honorable Mentions honors since Melvin Scott and Adam Stringer in the 2005-2006 season.
West and Moore helped lead the Tigers to the 2023 Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) regular season and tournament title along with sending the Tigers to the NAIA National Tournament for the second straight season.
West led the Tigers with 18.8 points per game on the season. West also averaged 9.9 rebounds per game, 1.5 blocks per game, 1.4 assists per game, and one steal per game.
Moore averaged 15.3 points per game on the season. Moore also averaged four rebounds per game, 2.5 steals per game, and 1.9 assists per game.
Both West and Moore were named to the CAC All-Tournament team and received CAC 1st-Team All-Conference honors. West was also named CAC regular season Player of the Year and the CAC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
Moore averaged 17.6 points per game in the CAC tournament with West averaging 23 points per game and 13.3 rebounds per game during the three game stretch of the tournament.
This is the second Honorable Mention of Moore's career after she received the honor for her 2021-2022 season. West earns the first All-America distinction of her career.
This is the first time in school history that two Tigers earned Honorable Mention honors in the same season.
