The Iowa Girls' Coaches Association released its All-District softball teams this week and four Henry County players were named to the Class 1A Southeast District squad.
Winfield-Mt. Union led the way with two players and one coach.
Coach Walt Jackson was named to the team after an 18-9 season. The Wolves lost their season opener to Class 3A state championship qualifier Louisa-Muscatine but then won their next seven contests. W-MU had an up-and-down midseason swing, but ended the regular season with three straight wins and won one game in the regional tournament.
Madie Anderson had another huge year in the circle for Winfield-Mt. Union. The sophomore was named to the All-District team after a 17-8 season, ending the year with a 1.84 ERA and 290 strikeouts. She also hit .254 with 13 RBIs.
Keetyn Townsley led the Wolves' offense in just her eighth-grade year to get on to the All-District squad. She ended the year with a .349 ERA, nine RBIs and 15 stolen bases in 15 attempts.
Junior catcher Layney Loyd represents New London on the team. She hit a blazing hot .577 with 10 doubles, one triple and 14 RBIs, and also did work on the bases, stealing 17 of them in 17 attempts.
