WEST LIBERTY — Mid-Prairie girls golf has had quite the run these past three years.
On Wednesday, the No. 7 ranked Golden Hawks added some more hardware to an already impressive resume, qualifying to the state tournament for the third consecutive year with a second overall finish at the Class 2A Regional Final at West Liberty Country Club.
The third straight trip is a program record for the Golden Hawks.
In the team competition, Mid-Prairie finished with a score of 386 to take second. The Golden Hawks just slipped past conference rival Tipton, 391, who had gotten the better of them in Kalona last week.
The Regional Final champions were the Huskies of Oelwein.
Individually, Mid-Prairie was paced by Madi Davidson’s 89. That was good enough to notch Davidson a sixth overall finish.
Gabi Robertson finished with a 94. Morgyn Bender carded a 101. Olivia Swartzentruber ended with a 102. Elliot Debler had 103 and Addison English 104.
Mid-Prairie now turns its sights toward the 2A State Tournament in Boone where they will look to top their seventh place finish in last year’s tournament. That will begin on Thursday at Cedar Pointe Golf Course.
