Highland sweeps Columbus
The Highland offense boys? and girls? basketball teams were in full swing on Thursday night, as they picked up a pair of victories over Columbus.
In a game that was postponed due to Tuesday?s weather, the Huskies looked like they didn?t miss a beat, picking up a 61-25 victory in the girls? game, and a 63-43 victory on the boys? side.

Highland sweeps Columbus
The Highland offense boys? and girls? basketball teams were in full swing on Thursday night, as they picked up a pair of victories over Columbus.
In a game that was postponed due to Tuesday?s weather, the Huskies looked like they didn?t miss a beat, picking up a 61-25 victory in the girls? game, and a 63-43 victory on the boys? side.
The girls were led by strong performances from junior Kelsey Hora (21 points) and senior Cheyann Adamson (17 points), while Columbus was held in check, with Shania Boyd the only Wildcat to score more than five points, putting in 13 on the night.
On the boys? side of things, Highland was led by Trent Lasek?s 15 points, while Tucker Hall notched 14 in the win.
Columbus had a strong night from Carter Colby in the loss, as he earned 17 points and four steals.
Highland will host WACO on Friday night, while Columbus will take on Mediapolis.
WACO falls to Pekin
It was a defensive struggle in the boys? contest when Pekin traveled to Wayland on Thursday night.
The WACO boys? basketball team held the Panthers to 45 points in the contest, but that wasn?t enough, as they were handed a 45-32 loss in the contest.
WACO was led by junior Jackson Roth?s 11 points in the contest, while Colton Horak notched seven points, and Bryce Achen picked up six points.
The Warriors trailed by 10 points at halftime, and couldn?t sneak any closer to Pekin the rest of the contest.
On the girls? side, the Class 2A, No. 3 ranked Pekin Panthers cruised to a 56-34 victory over the Warriors, with the help of two girls notching at least 14 points.
WACO was led by junior Halle Kissell?s 15 points in the contest, while Kiana Miller notched eight points, and Ashley Hallett notched six points.
The Warriors will take on Highland on Friday night.
Keota boys continue win streak.
A trio of double-digit scorers on Thursday night, as well as a strong defensive performance, led to the fourth-straight win for the Keota boys? basketball team.
Jacob Wickenkamp scored 14 points for the Eagles to lead the team, as English Valleys never scored more than 10 points in a quarter, falling 62-26.
Zach Mousel and Hunter Wilson each had 10 points, while Wickenkamp led the team with four assists.
Keota now sits at 14-5 on the season, and they have won five of their last six contests.
The Eagles will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, when they host Holy Trinity on Saturday.
