Tiger girls triumph, hoist SEISC title
New London’s Phillips cards lowest score on the day

WAPELLO — If you can bet on thing, it’s that the New London girls golf team with perform when it matters most.
Year in and year out, the Tigers have solidified themselves as one of the top teams in the conference and the class.
On Monday, in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference Meet at Heritage Oaks Golf Club they did it once again, showing they’re prepared to make a tournament run.
Winfield-Mt. Union, Van Buren County, Wapello, Louisa-Muscatine, Holy Trinity Catholic, Highland, Danville, Notre Dame, Central Lee and Mediapolis all competed in the meet as well.
The Tigers ran away with the competition finishing the day with 388 total team points, 52 strokes over second-place Louisa-Muscatine, 440.
Mediapolis finished third in the meet with 453 points, followed by Highland (459), Winfield-Mt. Union (474), Wapello (510), Van Buren (527) and Central Lee (619). Notre Dame, Danville and Holy Trinity did not post team scores due to lineup shortages.
The Tigers placed five golfers inside the top 11 on the day.
New London’s Taylor Phillips was the conference champion. Phillips shot an 82 on the day, seven strokes over second-place Olivia Hines of Mediapolis. Both were the only golfers to shoot under 90 in the competition.
The Tiger’s Sophie Malott shot a 96 for a third-place finish. She, along with Phillips and Hines were the only competitors with scores below 100.
Tying for sixth for New London was Saige Barron. Barron posted a 104 in the tournament, tying with Jersey Lessenger of Louisa-Muscatine.
Emma Nye carded herself a 106 on the day, good enough for eighth. Emma Busby shot 113 for 11th and Stevey Wintermeyer ended with 144, tying for 43rd.
For Highland, Kelsi Cerny posted the lowest in the competition. Cerny finished fifth in the competition with a score of 102.
Danika Kraus ended with 117 and Adeline Krotz 118 for the Huskies. Kraus tied for 13th and Krotz 15th.
Rounding out the Highland lineup was Kerra Longbine with a 122 and Jenna Waters a 123. Longbine finished tied for 19th and Waters tied for 22nd.
Leading WMU was Alli Humphreys with a score of 111 and a ninth-place finish.
Isabel Kann followed with 115 for 12th and Afton Wilkerson in 16th with 119.
Ava Hagge tallied 129, Chloe Fisher a 141 and Lily Freeman 143. Hagge was 29th, Fisher 39th and Freeman 42nd.
Pacing Van Buren was Keely Duncan with a score of 119, tying her for 16th.
Jasmine Padget shot a 130 for a tie at 31st, while Zoe Best golfed a 134 for 36th. Georgia Padget placed 43rd after shooting a 144. Bailey Page tallied a 149 for 45th and Emma Charbonnea finished in 49th with a score of 174.
