Tiger golf hosts IW Spring Classic

FT. MADISON - The Iowa Wesleyan golf teams hosted the IW Tiger Classic, their annual spring tournament Tuesday afternoon. Both men's and women's teams competed in the one day event at Sheaffer Golf Course in Ft. Madison. The IW men's team took third place, while the IW women's team finished second.
On the men's side, the Tigers ended the day with a team score of 323, tied with Westminster College. Iowa Wesleyan's fifth player, Mason Wills beat out the Blue Jays fifth player to give IW the tiebreaker.
Jaime Suarez led the Tigers with a score of 75 through 18 holes. Suarez held the tiebreaker to take third place in individual scoring. Jeff Cox was the next best finisher for Iowa Wesleyan with a final score of 78, while Blake Forsythe turned in a scorecard of 81 on the day.
On the women's side, Iowa Wesleyan finished behind Waldorf University for second place on the day. They shot a 406 as a team and were led by Maggie Calease, who shot a 96. Claire Hanson shot a 100 on the day, while Allie Massner and Hannah Lien each turned in final scores of 105.
The men will compete in the SLIAC Golf Championships on April 22 and 23 at Weaver Ridge Golf Course in Peoria, Ill. The women completed their spring season with Wednesday's event.
