OSKALOOSA - The Iowa Wesleyan men's soccer team is coming off its third-straight 2-0 loss in an in-state road game. The Tigers fell to William Penn University on Saturday and Grinnell College on Friday. Earlier in the week, the Tigers had dropped a game at Simpson College.
Friday's game was 0-0 at the halftime break, but Grinnell scored two goals over the course of five minutes in the second half.
Grinnell's Evan Sorenson had a goal in the 65th mintue. Mikoto Kobayashi made it 2-0 in the 70th minute.
The Tigers had six shots on goal in the loss. Mariano Mateo had three of those. Creighten Chambers, Domenech Miguel and Sebastian Sosa each had one. Chris Rimmer had two saves.
The script looked a little different on Saturday, despite the same outcome. This time, IW gave up two first half goals, both to the same player. William Penn's Kenedy Deviska scored in the fifth minute and the 29th minute to give the Statesmen the two goal win.
The Tigers had just two shots on goal in Saturday's loss, one by Trevor Haasis and one by Chambers. Haasis had seven saves in net.
