Tiger soccer swept by Greenville, women fall to Lincoln Christian

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Iowa Wesleyan soccer teams were at Greenville University on Saturday for their first conference games of the year. Both teams were shut out, with the men losing 1-0 and the women falling 9-0. The women followed that up with a 5-0 loss at home on Monday against Lincoln Christian.
The men were tied 0-0 throughout the match until Greenville's Adam Jones sent home the game-winner with 76:41 showing on the clock.
The Tigers finished the game with five shots on goal. Fabian Arvizu and Jeinner Farfan had two shots on goal each, and Sebastian Sosa finished with one. Chris Rimmer saved five of six shots directed at him in net.
Greenville sent in six goals in the first half in the women's game, following that with three more in the second half as Dani Pearce led them with three goals.
IW had three shots on goal, two by Grace Alongi and one by Zuleima Jiminez. Destiny Colon had 20 saves in the loss, facing 29 shots on goal.
Lincoln Christian was short-handed in the game Monday night, but that didn't stop Abigail Crockett, who lit the Tigers up for four goals. Lincoln Christian scored three goals in the first half and two in the second.
IW had 15 shots on goal in the loss, 11 by Alongi. Colon saved nine of 14 shots faced. The Tigers will play again on Wednesday, Oct. 3, in a double-header. The women will start that doubleheader off at 1 p.m.
