The Iowa Wesleyan women's soccer just didn't get enough shots on net in their final regular season game on Monday afternoon. The Tigers fell 3-0 to their visitors from MacMurray College.
The Highlanders scored two early goals, both coming in the first 10 minutes and 11 seconds. MacMurray's Erin Detter sent one in off the body on a Margaret Doss corner kick in the eighth minute, and Abbigail Youngblood netted one off a rebound in a crowd in front of the net in the 11th minute.
For the next 73 minutes of game time, there were no scores. The Tiger defense and goalkeeper Destiny Colon were able to keep the Highlanders at bay, despite being outshot. The offense couldn't net any goals themselves, however, and eventually, MacMurray found the back of the net once more.
This time it was Detter again, scoring off another corner kick from Doss. That brought the Highlander lead to 3-0 with under 7 minutes left in the contest.
The Tigers had four shots on goal in the loss. Grace Alongi finished the day with three shots on goal and Emmy Rodriguez had one. Alongi led with five total shots, and Rodriguez finished with two.
Colon faced 16 shots on goal and finished the night with 12 saves. She played all 90 minutes in net.
IW finished the year 3-12 overall and 1-8 in the conference. Their lone conference win was a 7-1 home victory over Eureka.
