Tiger women fall in Galesburg

GALESBURG, Ill. - The Iowa Wesleyan women's basketball team had its hands full on Wednesday night as they hit the road to take on Knox College. The Prairie Fire built a lead in the first half and doubled up the Tigers in the second half to knock off IW, 92-50.
Maddie Williamson had the hot hand for IW in the first quarter. She scored eight poitns in the first three minutes of the game, matching the Prairie Fire punch for punch throughout the beginning of the game. Knox scored the next seven points of the game to take a 15-8 lead, but the Tigers stormed back, tying the game at 15-15 on a jumpber from Allie Massner.
Knox pulled away at the end of the first quarter, finishing the period on an 11-4 run. After one quarter, IW trailed 26-19.
The Prairie Fire stretched the lead to double digits in the second quarter. Knox outscored IW 18-7 in the second period nad took a 44-26 lead into the break.
Knox put their foot on the pedal in the third quarter. The Prairie Fire doubled IW's score in the third, winning the period 28-14, and built the lead up to 42 before the night was over.
Morgan McCrea led the Tigers again, scoring 14 points in the loss. She knocked down four three-pointers before the night was up.
Massner finished the game with a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Sydney Farrar put up six points in her first game of the year. Harriet Fowler and Deericka Martin scored two apiece.
IW is now 0-3 to start the season. They'll head to Pella on Saturday, Nov. 23, to take on Central College.
