Tiger women shuto ut by Principia

BURLINGTON - Iowa Wesleyan hosted Principia College in Saturday's women's soccer action. The match was played at Bracewell Stadium in Burlington. After a scoreless first half, the Tigers could not stop the Principia offense and fell by a score of 4-0.
Iowa Wesleyan's defense played well in the opening period. Principia tested the Tigers with sixteen shots in the first half, but IW was able to keep the Panthers from scoring. Destiny Colon recorded eight saves in the first period.
Principia broke the scoreless stretch, finding the back of the net at the 49:25 minute mark for the first goal of the game. They added three more goals before the match was over and held Iowa Wesleyan without a goal to secure a 4-0 shutout. The Tigers were able to get four shots off in the final period, but they could not find the back of the net.
Destiny Colon ended the day with 17 saves after recording nine saves in the second half. Grace Alongi and Emmy Rodriguez combined for five shots on goal against the Panthers.
Iowa Wesleyan hosted Blackburn College today (Tuesday) in Mediapolis. The match was still ongoing as of presstime.
