WILLIAMS BAY, Wis. - Fans who made the four-hour trip to southeastern Wisconsin on Saturday were treated to a 60-point pummeling, courtesy of No. 6 New London. The Tigers picked up right where they left off from last season, running all over the Williams Bay Bulldogs 60-0 to start the 2018 season out on the right foot.
The Tigers didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard. Shae Summerfield returned the opening kickoff 80 yards to the end zone and New London never looked back.
By the time the first quarter was over, it was already 27-0. Ethan Streeter scrambled for a 14 yard touchdown run and then found Blaise Porter on an 18-yard touchdown pass. Cameron Raines made it 27-0 with a four-yard touchdown run.
The only score of the second quarter was a 22-yard touchdown run from Boden Bickle. At the half it was already 34-0.
New London scored once in the third quarter, when Gabe Carter found Dom Lopez on a 25-yard touchdown pass.
Dom scored again in the fourth on a 17-yard touchdown run, and then Marcel Lopez put in two scores, putting one in on a 22-yard run, and another in on a 20-yard fumble return.
New London spread the love all game long with their rushing attack. Cayden Wahls led the Tigers with 44 yards on the ground, and five different players found the end zone.
Streeter didn't need to do much behind center because of the dominant Tiger rushing attack and a superb job from New London on the defensive side of the ball. He went 2-3 with a touchdown. Dom went 1-3 on the day passing the ball.
Carter's 25-yard touchdown catch was all he needed to lead the team in receiving. Porter had one catch for 18 yards and a score, and Ryan Richey caught one ball for five yards.
Allen led the defense with six total tackles and three sacks. Pickle had six tackles as well.
Marcel's fumble recovery touchdown was the only takeaway from New London in the win. Summerfield's opening kick return touchdown was the only time Williams Bay got to kick off all game long.
Dawson Goetz scored six points on the day kicking the ball. He went 6-9 on extra points.
The Tigers will have a bye next week before their home opener on Friday, Sept. 6. New London will host Moravia in another non-district game.
Moravia didn't play a Week 0 game, but they'll either be 1-0 or 0-1 when they come in to New London in Week 2. The MoHawks will play Twin Cedars on Friday, Aug. 30, one week before they travel to New London.
