CENTRAL CITY — New London did all it could to contain Central City on the road Friday night.
Despite the Tigers’ best efforts, the Wildcats had just too much fire power as they fell 46-20.
New London struggled on both sides of the ball early and the struggles continued into the early stages of the second half as it wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the Tigers got on the board.
Meanwhile, Central City put up 30 points in the first half alone. The Wildcats scored 14 in the first and 16 more in the second to make it 30-0 at the half.
New London won the scoring battle in the second half, 20-8, but it wasn’t enough to get back into it.
All 20 of those points came in the fourth quarter.
Gavin Menke-Bailey led the Tigers with 29 yards passing in the loss. London Franklin threw for 25 yards and a touchdown as well.
Franklin also rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns.
On the receiving end, Franklin caught one pass for 25 yards. Cale Westerbeck, Menke-Bailey and Corbin Jacobs-Jewell all caught a pass as well.
Menke-Bailey tallied a team high 9.5 tackles, seven of which were solo.
New London drops to 0-4 with the loss. The Tigers will look to get in the win column on Friday when they host HLV, who’s also searching for its first win at 0-5.
