Tigers drop five-set match in West Burlington

WEST BURLINGTON - New London and West Burlington went at it for five sets on Thursday night, but the Tigers didn't quite have enough to pull out a win. New London nearly came back from a 2-1 deficit to stun the Falcons, but West Burlington held on in the fifth set to walk out victorious.
New London put the pressure on in the first set, winning it 25-17, which was the biggest margin of victory of the night. West Burlington responded with two straight sets, taking the second game 25-19 and the third game 25-18.
The closest set of the night ws the fourth. New London sweated out a 25-23 win to force a deciding fifth set. Unfortunately for Tiger fans, West Burlington still had something left in the tank and took the fifth game 25-23.
Addie Pry had 25 kills to lead the Tigers in the loss. Peyton Jackson and Alexa Wenger had seven kills apiece, and Sophie Lounsbury finished with three.
Kristen Rohdy stuffed the stat sheet with 40 assists and 35 digs. Chloe Coleman co-led the team with 30 digs. Wenger had 30. Marah Hartrick finished with 22, and Pry had 14.
New London was an impressive 95-98 serving the ball, and the Tigers finished with nine aces. Hartrick had three aces. Coleman and Rohdy had two aces each. Lounsbury and Pry each had one.
