LONE TREE - The New London football team bounced right back from last week's first loss of the season. The Tigers ran for 553 yards and eight touchdowns in a 54-26 victory on the Lone Tree Lions home field.
After splitting the first quarter at 8-8 and leading 28-22 at halftime, New London exploded in the second half, outscoring Lone Tree 26-6 to run away with a big win.
Blaise Porter ran for 295 yards and five scores to lead the Tiger attack. Boden Pickle added another 82 yards rushing and found the end zone twice, and Caydin Wahls went for 61 yards and a score.
Once again, New London didn't have to put the ball in the air much to get their offense going. The Tigers threw the ball only four times and completed just one pass, a six-yard connection from Porter to Wahls.
The Tigers have completed just three passes all season but have run for an astounding 1,354 yards and 19 touchdowns in their first four contests.
New London's defense was led by Wahls, who finished the night with 9.5 tackles. Pickle had eight tackles and a fumble recovery, and Porter picked off two passes.
New London moved to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in district play with the win. It will face off with Winfield-Mt. Union (3-1. 2-1) in a Henry County showdown this week.
