WEST BURLINGTON -- Another day, another SEISC South Division win for No. 4 New London. The Tigers finished up their December schedule on Friday completely umblemished, pouncing 68-53 on West Burlington to move to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the South.
New London got off to a quick start, thanks in part to 20 first-half points by Mason Porter. Porter led the Tigers to a 16-12 advantage after the first quarter and a 29-24 lead at halftime.
New London really began to pull away in the third quarter. The Tigers scored 22 points in the thrid period and stretched their advantage to 51-37 after three quarters.
West Burlington could never get back within striking distance, as the Tigers cruised home for their ninth conference win of the year, handing West Burlington their first South Division loss in the process.
Porter finished Friday's game with 24 points to lead the Tigers. Darius Whaley added 14, and Isaac McSorley scored 11 to give New London three double-digit scorers.
Keontae Luckett had nine points in the win. Grant Swanson scored eight, and Jalen Birdsell ended the night with two.
With that win, New London moved into first place, and has wins over all other South Division teams with the exception of last place Cardinal, who they will host on Friday, Jan. 4, when the winter break is over.
