The New London baseball and softball teams each came up with a conference win over Harmony on Monday night.
The girls blasted their SEISC South opponents, 13-0, and the boys claimed a 7-4 win.
In the softball game, the Tigers scored all they would need when they put five runs on the board in the first inning. They added four in the second inning and four more in the fourth during the shortened game.
Caitlin Chiri led the Tigers at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, three stolen bases and two runs scored.
Victoria Noel was 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and two RBIs in the contest; Sami Koontz was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Bria Mears got the win on the mound; she held the Rockets scoreless through four innings, allowing only two hits. She walked none and struck out five.
In the boys? game, New London got on the board early, scoring a run in the first and adding another run in each of the third and fifth innings.
They took an early lead, much the same way they did against Danville in their last contest. However, the Tiger offense faltered at the end of that game, and New London took the loss after allowing the Bears a big inning late in the contest.
This time, the New London offense came up with a four-run seventh inning to stretch their lead to 7-1, and even though the Rockets managed to add three runs in the bottom of the seventh, they still fell short as the Tigers claimed the win.
The New London softball team is now 6-4 overall (3-2 SEISC), while the baseball team upped its record to 2-6 overall (2-3 SEISC).
The Tiger softball team plays again today in the Mt. Pleasant Classic at East Lake Park, which was to begin at 1 p.m., and the both teams take the field on Thursday. The boys host Notre Dame, starting with JV at 5:30 p.m., and the girls travel to West Point for a game against Holy Trinity at 5:30 p.m.
