Tigers sweep Wolves on the golf course
Shelledy, Phillips lead New London, Loyd paces WMU boys

NEW LONDON — Winfield-Mount Union took the short drive to New London to take on the hosting Tiger golf team at Deerwood Country Club on Friday. The Tigers won both matches, taking the boys competition 376-381, and winning the girls competition 359-448.
New London had two players under 90 on the boys’ side. Mason Shelledy led the team with an 84, and Watt Miller was second, at 88.
Coen Fitzpatrick shot 100 for the Tigers. Vegas Watson finished at 104, and Sully Barron shot 117.
Carter Loyd led the WMU boys with an 86. Jake Edwards shot a 96. Andrew Brown finished at 99. Konnor Kinneberg shot 100. Max Edwards ended at 101, and Nick Sparrow finished at 102.
On the girls’ side, it was another strong performance from the Tiger girls, in particular Taylor Phillips, who shot a 78 to lead all scorers on the course.
Sophie Malott was a few strokes behind Phillips, with an 84. Emma Busby shot 91. Emma Nye finished at 106. Stevey Wintermeyer ended at 114, and Izzy Nye scored 118.
For the Wolves, Alli Humphreys shot a 105 to lead the way. Anna Anderson took second on the WMU girls’ team, with a 108.
Isabel Kann shot 114 for the Lady Wolves. Ava Hagge was the fourth scorer, with 121. Kaelyn Townsley shot 126, and Lily Freeman finished at 131.
