NEW LONDON — After four losses in a row to start the season, the New London football team got into the winner’s column on Homecoming night.
The Tigers trumped HLV 54-38, scoring by far their biggest point total of the season. It was New London’s third-straight win over HLV dating back to 2021.
London Franklin ran for 128 yards and four scores in the win, while also racking up 104 yards and a score receiving. Gavin Menke-Bailey completed 10 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Logan Franklin scored on a touchdown catch, and Brigham Porter rushed for one.
Defensively, Menke-Bailey had a team-leading seven tackles. Logan Franklin picked off two passes, and Cale Westerbeck had an interception of his own.
New London is now 1-4 on the season and 1-2 in district play. The Tigers will stay in Henry County for a road game this Friday at WACO (5-1, 2-1).
