Tigers tame Bears in home doubleheader

NEW LONDON - The New London basketball teams welcomed Danville for an SEISC South Division doubleheader on Thursday night, and they sent both teams back empty-handed. The Tiger boys got revenege from their first matchup of the year, winning 63-43, and the girls finished off a season sweep, 47-36.
The New London boys were without starting post Kade Benjamim, but you wouldn't know it by their second-hald output. After going into the break down 22-19, the Tigers outscoerd the Bears 22-5 in the third quarter and 22-16 in the fourth to run away with the game.
New London had just four players score. Grant Swanson led the way with 21 points, 13 rebounds and six assists.
Blaise Porter finished the night with 18 points, six assists and five steals. Devon Swanson had 14 points. Demontae Watkins had 10.
The Tiger girls led 10-4 after the first quarter, 14-12 at halftime and 29-22 after three quarters. New London scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to pull away with an 11-point win.
Layney Loyd had a double-double with 25 points nad 12 reboudnds. She also co-lead the team with three steals.
Kara Krieger finished the night with nine points. Marah Hartrick had six points and five assists. Ashlyn McSorley scoerd three points, and both Addie Pry and Natalie Burden finished with two.
