Tigers topped at Regina Catholic
New London’s lead dwindles as Regals dominate second half

IOWA CITY — New London boys basketball faced off with a tough Regina Catholic squad on Thursday night and through 16 minutes of action it was the Tigers who held control.
The second half ended up being a different story as the Regals came alive offensively to down the Tigers 69-49.
It was about as tight as it could be in the opening quarter between the Regals and Tigers.
Regina Catholic led by just one, 11-10, after the first quarter of basketball.
New London only got better in the second, edging Regina Catholic 17-13 to take a 27-24 lead into halftime.
Things shifted in the second half as Regina Catholic took over. The Regals opened up the final half with their best scoring quarter of the night. Regina Catholic scored a game high 28 points in the third period, while holding the Tigers to just 10.
A three point New London lead turned into a 52-37 lead for Regina Catholic through eight minutes. The Tigers were never able to get it back as the Regals went on to take the fourth as well, 17-12.
In all the Tigers were outscored 45-22 in the second half.
With the loss, New London drops to 2-6 on the season.
