Tigers win WACO Invitational

WAYLAND -The New London wrestling team flexed their muscles on Tuesday night at the WACO Invitational. The Tigers, who are currently ranked No. 8 in Class 1A scored 191 points to take home the team title, beating second-place Mid-Prairie by 38 points.
The Tigers took home four individiaul titles on the night. Marcel Lopez won the 113-pound bracket, Josh Glendening took the 120-pound title, Dominic Lopez won at 138 pounds and Gabe Carter took the 160-pound bracket.
Mid-Prairie won two of the three heaviest classes en route to their second-place finish. Isaac Boucher won at 195 pounds and Gannon Callahan took first at 285 pounds.
Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union was third, with 138 points, and picked up two championships on the day. Lane Scorpil won the 106-pound bracket and Cameron Rice won at 145 lbs.
Washington finished fourth overall with 93 points. Brandon Dickel was the big winner for the Demons, taking first in the 132-pound bracket.
Pekin finished seven place, with 80 points. Mason Juhl took first place at 220 pounds for the Panthers.
Highland was eighth, with 77 points, but didn't take home any championships. WACO took ninth, with 74 points. Jaden Williams held home court in the 152-pound bracket, taking the top spot.
