The top-overall pick in the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft was assigned Saturday by the parent Minnesota Twins to Cedar Rapids.
An 18-year-old shortstop from California, Lewis began his professional career with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Twins, where he hit .271 in 36 games, with three home runs, 17 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.

He is the first No. 1-overall pick to ever play for Cedar Rapids. His signing bonus was $6.725 million.
The Kernels host Quad Cities on Saturday night at 6:35, though it was unclear if Lewis would be in the starting lineup.
