Tornow fans 12 in victory

Mid-Prairie High School's baseball team has an 8-7 record after losing to the visitors from Fairfield, 6-4, Tuesday.
Aidan Rath and Ashton Bush combined for nine strikeouts but seven walks and allowed four hits. Rath had two hits and a home run. Brad Tornow was 3 for 3 with a double.
Monday the Hawks split at West Branch, losing 4-2 and winning 7-0. Keegan Gingerich struck out 12, walked two and gave up four hits in the loss. Tornow was 2 for 4. Tornow got a complete game win with 12 punchouts, no walks and four hits. Gingerich was 2 for 4.
Mid-Prairie hosts Anamosa today.
Iowa Mennonite is 8-5
IMS swept Louisa-Muscatine Monday, 2-0 and 11-1, then split with Mediapolis Tuesday, losing 13-3 and winning 7-4.
Noah Miller had nine strikeouts, two walks and two hits allowed in the 2-0 win. Trevor Leyden and London Schrock each had two hits.
Leyden tossed a one-hitter with three walks and seven K's in the 11-1 win. Blake Bontrager was 2 for 3 with a double and batted in three runs.
Miller and Leyden each had three hits in the loss to Mepo.
Eli Ours went seven innings in the win with eight K's, a walk and 10 hits. He and Schrock each had two hits.
IMS plays a doubleheader against Pekin today.
IMS sweeps Mepo
After losing 12-0 and 7-0 to Louisa-Muscatine Monday, IMS swept the visitors from Mediapolis Tuesday.
Leah Bontrager pitched both wins, allowing three hits, three walks and eight strikeouts in the 14-3 win and five K's, five walks and five hits in the 16-9 triumph.
Suzanna Yoder was a combined 4 for 7 with a home run and a double. Mia Graber was 3 for 8 with a double. Katelyn Swantz was 3 for 3 with two doubles in the 19-9 win.
IMS plays at Pekin today.
