Track and field state-qualifier assignments released

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and the Iowa High School Athletic Association have released assignments for state qualifiers in track and field.

Girls? regionals and boys? districts will be held May 11, with state qualifiers advancing to Drake Stadium in Des Moines, May 18-20.

Assignments for area teams are in Class 3A, the first- and second-place finishers automatically qualify in each event, as well as the next eight best efforts statewide. Washington will compete at Mt. Pleasant.

In Class 2A, the first- and second-place finishers automatically qualify in each event, as well as the next eight best efforts statewide.

Mid-Prairie will be at Eddyville, and Columbus and Highland will be at Tipton.

In Class 1A, the first-place finishers automatically qualify in each event, as well as the next 14 best efforts statewide.

WACO will host Iowa Mennonite and Keota.

The state track meet is Thursday-Saturday, May 18-20, in Des Moines.
